Interim director general of the National Commission (NATCOM) for the control and coordination of the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, Dr Agaba Iduh Fidel, has lauded the appointment of DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumuo (rtd) as the national coordinator, National Centre for Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW).
Kokumo was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take over from Major General Abba Dikko (Rtd) who led the centre for over three years.
Dikko was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2021.
Dr. Agaba in a congratulatory message said Kokumo being a thorough bred security professional will adequately and effectively tackle the threat of illicit arms in the country.
He expressed confidence in the capacity of the new DG to collaborate towards tackling the proliferation of small arms in the country.
The message reads, “Dr Agaba Iduh Fidel, on behalf of National Commission for the control and Coordination of the proliferation of small and light/chemical weapons, heartily congratulates the newly appointed Coordinator of the Centre for the control of Arms Domiciled in the office of the National Security Adviser DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo (rtd).
“As a commission, we are confident that collaboratively, the threat of illicit arm proliferations can be adequately and effectively tackled especially given the fact that the new Sheriff is a thorough bred security professional and an expert in crime fighting and management.”
