LEADERSHIP findings revealed that after attacking the villages, they moved towards Pangu Gari village in the same local government with their abductees.

A source hinted that the bandits moved in batches; the first batch of the bandits on motorcycles were initially seen crossing over, and later, those carrying the victims the abducted followed, wielding guns.

The source hinted further that some motorists on the busy Zungeru -Tegina—Kalgara route were seen turning back to escape possible attack by the bandits who used the route after every operation.

Another source hinted that the Military was able to repel Bandits trying to overtake the Tegina -Kalgara road after abducting their victims from the neighbouring villages.

It was learnt that the military mobilised early to provide security coverage for the road users because some motorists reported the movement of bandits on the road trying to cross over after abducting some villagers early.

The Commissioner of Homeland Security in Niger State, Garba Abdullahi, said to LEADERSHIP that “It is confirmed that Bandits attacked Garin Gabas and Kundu 07/04/2025 at about 1326 hours.”

“However, there is no confirmation as to whether victims were abducted or not or whether cattle were rustled. It is believed that they moved towards Pangu Gari village,” he added.

The chairman of the Rafi local government area, Ayuba Katako, told LEADERSHIP that people were apprehensive because they saw military personnel on the road.

He said that 11 bandits’ motorcycles were initially seen, and immediately, the military was mobilised to the road to allow free traffic flow.
