Again, gunmen suspected to be Terrorists have  killed 4 villagers in an attack at the Damala community in  Borgu local government area of Niger state.

LEADERSHIP observed that the attacks in Niger North have shifted from Kontogora Emirate to Borgu and farming communities with large deposits of Solid Minerals.

It was learnt that the terrorists took the Damala community, which is located a few kilometres from Woko (Wawa), known to have gold and gemstone mining sites operated by some unknown firms.

Eye witness accounts revealed that the terrorists not only killed the villagers but also rustled their cattle and went back through the usual Kainji lake forest in Borgu local government area, where all the stolen cattle were kept before moving them across the borders

The Chairman of Borgu Local Government Area, Mallam Abdullahi Mohammed Nasiru, confirmed the incident.

He decried that the local government was under siege from terrorists, positing that the area needed urgent military intervention.

Mallam Nasiru appealed for intensified security patrols around communities being attacked, and that with full security in the area, the terrorists will retreat.

He said, “There is an urgent need to secure the National Park, which has become an abode for the criminals”.

LEADERSHIP has reported that terrorists have taken over the Kainji National Park forest and used the difficult terrain as a cover to commit crimes in Borgu and Agwara local government areas that make up Borgu Emirate.

He advised on enhanced collaboration between security agencies, park rangers, and local vigilante groups to improve security in the area, stressing that people have continued to live under apprehension and fear.
