Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, has ordered parties not to take any step to overreach the court in the suit before it over the leadership crisis of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The party, over the last few months has been involved in leadership crisis.
While Senator David Mark’s faction is laying claim to the leadership of the party, Nafiu Bala Gombe, is also leading another faction laying claim to the leaderahip of the party.
In an order dated April 14, 2026 in suit No. FHC/ABM/CS/582/2026 the court ordered parties to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
A faction of the party led by
Don Norman Obinna and six others had dragged the party, INEC and six others before the court.
Other plaintiffs in the suit are
Johnny Tovie Derek, Obah C. Ehigiator, Hon. Olona Yinka, Dr. Charles Idowu Omideji, Samuel Pam Gyang and Obianyo Patrick
Other defendants in the suit are Sen. David Mark, Sen. Patricia Akwashiki, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi ‘ Defendants, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor
Justice Abdulmalik held, “It is hereby ordered as follows: That all parties shall file their consequential processes to enable this matter see the light of day at the next date. In other words, I Order that the pending applications shall be heard along with the substantive suit since the processes are all fought on affidavit evidence.
“I also Order that all parties in this suit shall maintain the status quo ante bellum and shall not take further steps in this matter so as not to render nugatory the proceedings before the court.”
The court ordered that a copy of the order should be served on the defendants amd adjourned the case to April 23, 2026.
