Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intercepted over N93 million petrol products from smugglers in Adamawa State

The comptroller-general of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, represented by the national coordinator of “Operation Whirlwind”, Abubakar Aliyu, said 64,410 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) packed in 2,550 jerrycans and three drums of 220 litres capacity, two used vehicles were intercepted.

Aliyu said Mubi-Sahuda Farang-Belel, Gurin-Fufore, Maihia, Muva and Pariya-Wuro Bokki as some of the locations the seizures were made.

The NCS also intercepted a used DAF fuel tanker conveying PMS along the Mubi-Uba Road in the state.

He explained that the truck loaded with 50,000 litres of PMS would be handed over to Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) immediately for continued inter-agency action.

Aliyu said the NCS remains committed to its constitutional mandate of safeguarding the nation’s economy, protecting critical assets and combating smuggling and other forms of economic sabotage.
