At least, eight persons have been killed in fresh attacks by gunmen at Chicim community of Mangu local government council of Plateau State.

A reliable source said eight persons were killed while three other victims who sustained injuries were receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

Locals who spoke to our correspondent on phone said the gunmen stormed the community, about one kilometer from Mangu Town at about 10 pm on Tuesday night and started shooting at anything on sight.

An eyewitness, Kespan Iliya, who is also a resident of the community told newsmen that members of the community were asleep when the gunmen arrived in a commando style, shooting sporadically at residents.

LEADERSHIP understands that over 96 houses were also razed in Gyenbwas, a community in Langai District of Mangu LGA during the attack.
