The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Nasarawa State, Mr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, has declared to vie for the position again ahead of the 2027 polls.

He declared his interest to contest the position in his Democracy Day message to the people of the state and made available to journalists on Thursday in Lafia.

He insisted PDP won the 2023 governorship election before “the will of the people was subverted.”

“What we saw in Nasarawa State in 2023 was a tragic deviation from democratic values. The people voted massively, believing in someone they trusted to lead them. But their mandate was stolen. I call it a democratic kidnapping. The power that belongs to the people was forcefully taken away,” he alleged.

He said Nigerians have not really enjoyed the democratic dividends as the governing party have failed woefully to better the lot of the people.

“We must ask ourselves if we are truly experiencing the dividends of democracy.” Sadly, in Nasarawa, the answer is no.

“The economy is harsh, our youths are suffering, farmers are neglected, and basic infrastructure is lacking. The people are not being served,” he averred.

He said his intention to run for the state’s most coveted position again was born out of the pressing desire to emancipate the people from the APC-induced poverty and underdevelopment.

“The people have never been disconnected from me. In fact, they still call me ‘their governor,’ despite the injustice. The 2027 project is already on autopilot. By the grace of God and the will of the people, we shall win again,” he declared.
