Niger North senator and chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, has donated N20 million to victims of a recent rainstorm in the Darangi community, Rijau local government area of Niger State.
According to a statement by his media adviser, Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, said the donation, aimed at providing relief to residents affected by the devastating storm, was delivered on behalf of the senator by a delegation comprising his top aides.
The delegation included his legislative aide 1, Mohammed Sani Yahya, his personal assistant, Alhaji Ali Qira, and other team members.
They were received in Rijau by the vice chairman of the local government, Hon. Abdullahi Musa (popularly known as Babawo Lolo), and a community leader, Mr John Sani, before proceeding to Darangi where they met with the District Head, Alhaji Garba Abara.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Sani Bello, Alhaji Ali Qira conveyed the senator’s deep sympathy to the victims and assured the community of his continued support.
He described the donation as a gesture of compassion and solidarity in the face of hardship.
While receiving the donation, the district head of Darangi expressed profound appreciation for the senator’s timely intervention. He described Senator Sani Bello as a “true champion of the people” and pledged that the funds would be transparently distributed to those affected by the disaster.
It will be recalled that the recent rainstorm displaced over 360 residents in Darangi, destroyed homes and critical infrastructure.
This donation follows a similar intervention in Ibeto, Magama LGA, where Senator Sani Bello donated N20 million to rainstorm victims just days earlier.
Senator Sani Bello has continued to earn praise across Niger North for his proactive and people-centered approach to governance, particularly in times of crisis.
