Again, Yobe Govt Trains Information Officers, Allocates Laptops, Other Working Tools

In an effort to enhance the capacity of Information Officers posted to Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) the Yobe State Government has once again organised a three days workshop for Government Information Officers.

The training, which took place at the Cedars recreational Center, Damaturu was flagged off by the Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni.

Buni represented by the Secretary to the State Government, ALhaji Baba Mallam Wali said the training was organised with a view to equip the Information Officers with the requisite knowledge on how best to report government activities for understanding, accountability and trust between the government and the governed.

The governor said, “As we gather here today, I want to underscore the importance of communication as the cornerstone of effective governance.

“It is through you as Information Officers that the citizens of Yobe State could remain informed, empowered, and engaged in the developmental journey of our administration.

“The administration of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN recognizes the indispensable role you play, and the governor is personally committed to supporting you in order to discharge your duties and responsibilities effectively.

“This training, among many others organized by the state government, is designed to familiarize you with emerging trends in information dissemination and management, digital media, and public relations to ensure that your work remains relevant and impactful.

“In our quest to deliver good governance, it is critical that citizens are well-informed about government initiatives.

“Your work in highlighting developmental projects in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure fosters transparency and accountability across the state government,” he stated.

Buni who charged the Information Officer to remain steadfast in their job assured government’s commitments to supporting them with working tools among others for better results.

“Distinguished personalities, participants, ladies and gentlemen, as we move forward, let me assure you that the Yobe State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni CON, remains fully committed to supporting your work.

“Together, we can harness the power of the media to strengthen the bond between the government and the people, ensuring that every citizen is informed, involved, and carried along. “To this end, His Excellency Gov. Buni has approved the allocation of one smart phone and one laptop for each of the participants in this workshop.

Also, the commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon Abdullahi Bego while speaking, commended governor Buni for his support towards ensuring that the Information Officers are not only trained but given the necessary encouragement with a view to discharging the duties effectively.
