Manufacturers of local consumables and products have been urged to maintain high quality standards in line with the Nigeria industry standard to enable consumers get value for their money.

The Taraba State coordinator of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mrs Janet Makenvakkai, stated this at the weekend, while presenting Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme Certificate to Buma Water Company, led by its production manager, Engr. Christopher Obadiah in Jalingo.

Buma water established about a year, is the producers of bottle and sachet water across the country, owned by an indigene of Taraba State.

Mrs. Makenvakkai, who reiterated SON’scommitment to ensuring quality products across Nigeria markets, said it will not condone any manufacturer trying to shortchange consumers with bad products.

She said, “SON will continue to work towards ensuring that, all products that are produced within the country meet up with the Nigeria Industrial Standard, particularly for the bottle water by Buma company.”

The SON coordinator said, “if they must stay in business, they will have to abide by the Nigeria Industrial Standard, and we will ensure that Buma water is going to be under surveillance periodically. We will make sure that, they meet up with the requirements as expected.

“Quality has no destination. So, they will have to be on their toes to maintain high standards,” she added.

Mrs. Makenvakkai, maintained that, the organisation “is really out to ensure that there is sanity in whatever that goes to the market for consumers to buy, so that the consumer is not shortchanged and the consumer is giving value for his money.”

The Production Manager, Engr. Christopher Obadiah, was happy that the company was certified by SON to provide needed service to the people.
