The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has welcomed Dr Marcus Olaniyi Ogunbiyi as its new permanent secretary.
This development followed the recent deployment by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF).
According to a statement issued by the ministry, Ogunbiyi officially assumed office on Tuesday during a handover ceremony held at the headquarters in Abuja.
In his inaugural address, the permanent secretary expressed gratitude to both ministers and staff for their warm reception and pledged to advance President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda by driving initiatives aimed at achieving food and nutrition security, enhancing economic growth, and ensuring sustainable development within the agricultural sector.
“The agriculture sector is a top priority for this administration in terms of food security, job creation, poverty alleviation, and economic growth.
“With a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, an open-door policy, and a wealth of experience, I am committed to elevating the sector to greater heights”, he said.
He also urged directors and staff to collaborate closely with the ministry’s leadership to achieve the government’s food sufficiency and economic transformation mandate.
In his remarks, the outgoing permanent secretary, Temitope Peter Fashedemi, expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure and called on staff to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
