Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has called for a balanced approach to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

She emphasised that technology should enhance learning without replacing the essential human element.

In a statement to mark the International Day of Education, Senator Tinubu highlighted the theme for this year’s celebration, “AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World,” as a timely reminder of the dual role AI plays in modern education.

“AI can serve as a tool for empowerment, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence,” she said, “However, it must not replace the irreplaceable human touch in education.”

The first lady urged educators and policymakers to develop inclusive curricula that incorporate AI literacy while maintaining a focus on core values and compassion.
