A’Ibom Hosts UN-SDG 7th Anniversary

The International Association of World Peace Advocates a world class organization with United Nations Ecosoc Special Consultative Status has concluded plans to host the 7th Anniversary of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG to mark this year’s Global Week in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State on 20th September 2022 at the Ibom Hall, Uyo.

Speaking to our newsmen in Abuja, Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke the spokesman of the association said that part of the event will be to FLAG-OFF the United Nations Plan of Action to Safeguard Religious Sites in Unity and Solidarity for Safe and Peaceful Worship in Akwa ibom State first of it’s kind in the country hence Akwa ibom state under the leadership of Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel has put in place the biggest Worship Enculminica center in Nigeria a great feat that no governor has been been able to achieve. The project is waiting commissioning.

In his speech, “Akwa Ibom State is on threshold of history as the ceremony will begin the mapping of the Akwa-Ibom State Religious sites into the United Nations Data Base using the Geo-spatial Technologies”

Adding that the 7th Anniversary will feature participation of 50 secondary schools in the state that will showcase in form of drama, quiz and music rendition to highlight the importance of the Sustainable Development in Nigeria and world Peace including award presentations to Eminent Nigerians whose humanitarian activities and peaceful dispositions have contributed in promoting peace in Nigeria.

The Country Director of the association in Liberia who doubles as the ECOWAS Coordinator Amb. Dr. Sammy David said that the Global Week Ceremony is coming at the right time adding that the association has been on the Frontline of promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which he has accepted to participate in Akwa- State Nigeria with his team of Eminent Peace Ambassadors from Liberia.

In a sperate speech Prof. Amb. Chidi Ehiriodo the international director of the association said that the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel will be conferred with the award of the SDG Golden Governor of the Year while the president of Tanzania, Her Excellency, Samia Suluhu Hassan will be declared the winner of the SDG Presidential Gold Award other organizations will be awarded on their various SDG Achievements of the year, such like PWAN GROUP of Companies as the 2022 Overall Best Performing company on SDG-11 of the year on Real Estate Management and Property/Housing Business in Nigeria others are Save A-Life Foundation as overall Best Performing NGO on SDG-3 in area of Good Health Provision and Support Service while Nigeria Port Authority wins the SDG-8 as Best Government Parastata of the year in area of Economic Grouth and Performanc.

The special dignitaries expected at the event to flag-off the UN Plan of Action are the executive governor of Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, The President General of the Akwa State Council of Traditional Rulers, The CAN President of the state and Amb. Prof. Bassey Udoh the Religious Adviser of the association to the World Peace President including a renowned philanthropist Dr. Okpara Obinna Emmanuel and host of other personalities that may arrive the state a day before the event.

Explaining further, a University Don and the State director of the association Amb. Prof. James Asuquo, said the the UN Plan of Action is the initiative of the UN Alliance of Civilization but promoted worldwide by the International Association of World Peace Advocates he appluaded the decision of the association in hosting the ceremony in Akwa-Ibom State while thanking Governor Udom Emmanuel on his giant stride in the state that has attracted the attention of an international organization to bring the presence of the world to Akwa-Ibom State.
