The Ukwa La Ngwa ethnic group has been lauded for endorsing Abia State governor, Alex Otti, for the 2027 election and pledging to raise N100 million to buy the nomination form for him.
The senior special assistant to the Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement, Oluebube Chukwu, stated this in Umuahia, the state capital, following the pronouncement.
The group, which occupies part of Abia Central and South, had made the pronouncement last week during a grand civic reception it organised to honour Otti in Aba.
He noted that the event in nine of the 17 local government areas of the state was significant and historical, and that it spoke to Otti’s purposeful, focused, and transparent leadership.
His words: “It was not merely a political gathering but a spontaneous endorsement rooted in visible achievements, fiscal discipline, and institutional reforms that have restored confidence in governance.
“As an agency, we have witnessed firsthand Governor Alex Otti’s unwavering commitment to due process and responsible management of public resources”.
“Under his leadership, the state has shifted from opaque contracting systems to a transparent procurement framework that prioritises quality, competitiveness, and timely project delivery.”
He said that, through infrastructure renewal, the revitalisation of critical public assets, and the ongoing civil service reform, he had demonstrated that good governance is achievable when integrity drives leadership.
While reaffirming his commitment to ensuring the realisation of the mandate of the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Chukwu congratulated the governor on the honour.
He therefore urged residents of the state to sustain their support for the governor beyond 2027 to ensure the continuity of reforms, institutional strengthening, and ongoing infrastructure renewal.
