Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dismissed allegations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary did not hold in the state, branding such claims as mere “hearsay”.

Aiyedatiwa, who emerged victorious in the primary ahead of November’s governorship election, spoke to State House correspondents in Abuja yesterday.

He insisted the election took place across the state, despite complaints from some quarters.

“Those who are complaining, it’s just hearsay. Election actually took place,” the governor stated.

“You can only be in one place at a time. I went to my own ward and I was counted and the election took place in my ward. I cannot speak of other wards.”

He challenged those alleging irregularities to provide proof, saying “Who alleges must prove.”

Aiyedatiwa dismissed insinuations that the process was not free and fair, or that voting did not occur in certain areas.

The governor disclosed he has initiated moves to unite all the aspirants, saying they are “family members” who contested to fly the party’s flag.

He expressed confidence in his existing relationships with them.

“We’re already talking. The good thing is that I have a relationship with everyone of them…So there’s no form of grandstanding, it’s not a politics of calumny. So we relate very well,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He stressed that despite pockets of grievances, the APC must remain united to guarantee victory in the November gubernatorial polls.
