The Ondo State governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commended the contributions of the executive director Corporate Services of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDCC), Chief Ifedayo Abegunde to youth and Niger Delta region development.
Speaking at the 70th birthday celebration of Abegunde, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and two-term member of the House of Representatives, Aiyedatiwa said his contribution to the development of the state, Niger Delta region and youth is worthy of emulation.
At the event held at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised Chief Abegunde as a remarkable politician dedicated to supporting his community.
The governor acknowledged Abegunde’s significant contributions to Ondo State and the broader Nigerian political landscape. He commended Abegunde for his unwavering contributions to the growth and development of Ondo State and the Niger Delta region and described him as a pillar of political experience.
He says, “Abegunde has consistently made meaningful contributions to developing our people and communities. Ondo State is proud of its achievements and unwavering commitment,” Aiyedatiwa remarked.
In his speech, Abegunde expressed his dedication to initiatives that would uplift Akure and the state. As a former member of the House of Representatives, he highlighted his intention to leverage his extensive experience to foster progress within Akure’s communities.
Abegunde, who has been made the Asiwaju of Akure by the Deji, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, fondly called, expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and thanked his family, friends, and political allies for their support over the years.
He noted that his journey has been shaped by resilience, faith, and a commitment to public service. He advised the country’s youth to learn from his trajectory in life, be law-abiding, and show commitment to the development of their community and the nation.
