Rising from an enlarged meeting, members of Alhaji Dalhatu Bafarawa’s former political movement, ‘Akida Bafarawa,’ have joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The decision to join the APC has the backing of Alhaji Bafarawa, who has announced his retirement from politics but remains a statesman.
Professor Hamza Muhammad Maishanu, who relayed ‘Akida Bafarawa’s decision to journalists in the late hours of Wednesday, said the decision was a collective and consensus decision.
“Yes, we belong to the PDP, but after our leader, Alhaji Dalhatu Bafarawa, announced his retirement from active politics, we moved into ‘Akida Bafarawa’ and, of course, we maintain our structures.
“As politicians, we came together, and after several deliberations, we decided on our own, without any prompting from any quarters, to choose the ruling party, APC.
“One of the reasons we chose APC is the noticeable respect Governor Ahmed Aliyu accorded our leader, Alhaji Dalhatu Bafarawa, one of the founding fathers of the APC.
“I am happy to inform you that Alhaji Dalhatu Bafarawa endorses our decision. He is pleased and blesses our movement into APC,” Professor Maishanu stated.
Recalled that Alhaji Dalhatu Bafarawa’s son, Honourable Sagir Bafarawa, ran as the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP for Sokoto state in the last gubernatorial election.
