The Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has assured us of more federal government projects in Ekiti state, saying the present administration is committed to the development of other states of the federation.
He said the government is determined to ensure that its presence is felt in all parts of the country through the execution of people-oriented developmental projects.
The Senate president stated this in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti capital, during the Udiroko cultural festival after he and Senate Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, were honoured with chieftaincy titles by Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe.
Akpabio, the special guest of honour at the event held within the Ewi’s palace, was represented by his deputy, Jibrin Barau.
Barau, while delivering the Senate President’s message, said, “We are going to do everything within our power to make sure that we attract federal projects to be executed in this state. In the next year’s appropriation act, something substantial will be inputted into the budget to be executed in Ekiti state. Any project they have in mind, they should say it, and it will be implemented.”
He described the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as one of the respected national leaders in this country who lives very well with everyone.
“We also appreciate Kabiyesi, Ewi of Ado Ekiti, for his prayers and care for us, and we have always admired him as one of the foremost traditional rulers in this country.
“The Udiroko cultural festival is a beautiful festival, a prominent tourist event and an excellent tourist attraction.
The Senate leader, Bamidele, who came from the US to grace the event, appreciated Oba Adejugbe’s support for Ekiti state and the federal government.
“The support you are also giving those of us representing you and the people in Abuja cannot be bought with money, so we thank you for all this.”
Governor Oyebanji called on all Ado-Ekiti descendants home and in the Diaspora to use the platform provided by the Udiroko festival to strengthen the bonds of love, empathy, and brotherhood that bind them together, stressing that these values are essential for the unity and progress of the community.
Oyebanji described Oba Adejugbe as a beacon of wisdom and leadership whose influence has significantly contributed to the peace and stability of the town.
