The senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called on indigenes of Kogi State to take advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration and voter information update exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission), ahead of the July 10, 2026 deadline.

In a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Abuja, the lawmaker urged eligible voters across the state, particularly youths and first-time voters, to ensure they register and obtain their PVCs as a key requirement for active participation in the democratic process.

According to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, the PVC remains one of the most important instruments available to citizens in shaping the future of their communities, their state, and the nation at large.

“I urge all Kogi State indigenous sons and daughters, especially our youths and first-time voters, to participate actively in the ongoing PVC registration exercise. Your vote remains your voice, and your voice matters in shaping the future of our communities, our state, and our nation,” she said.

The senator stressed that no eligible citizen should be excluded from the electoral process, emphasizing the need for early registration and timely updates of voter information before the exercise closes.

“No responsible citizen should be left out of the electoral process. Those who have attained voting age should register immediately, while those whose voter information requires correction or updating should take advantage of the ongoing exercise before the deadline,” she stated.

She also called on community leaders, youth organisations, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to intensify grassroots sensitisation efforts aimed at increasing voter registration across Kogi State.

“I call on families, friends, community associations, and stakeholders across Kogi State to encourage one another to register. Democracy thrives when citizens participate actively. A PVC is not just a card; it is a symbol of your right to determine the future you desire,” Akpoti-Uduaghan added.

The lawmaker noted that widespread participation in the voter registration exercise would strengthen democratic governance and ensure that the voices of Kogi people are adequately represented in future elections.

She further reiterated that active citizen engagement remains essential to deepening democracy and promoting accountable leadership, urging residents not to wait until the final days of the exercise before completing their registration.

The appeal comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission continues its nationwide Permanent Voter’s Card registration and voter information update exercise, with eligible Nigerians expected to register, transfer, or update their records before the July 10, 2026 deadline.
