All Progressives Congress (APC) members and other political parties from the hometown of the minister of Special Duties And Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC members who were received by the PDP acting chairman, Isaac Mffo during the PDP campaign tour in Wannune Tarka local government area of Benue State, expressed gratitude for their decision to dump their parties to join the PDP governorship candidate for the development of Benue.

Also speaking, the chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Services (BIRS), Chief Mimi Orubibi Adzape who commended the defectors for taking a wise decision, revealed that the administration of the APC has perpetrated more harm than good on Nigerians.

She also expressed worry over the bad socio – economic situation in the country which has thrown many Nigerians into hardship and described the situation as pitiable to an average Nigerian.

Orubibi explained that the continuous rising cost of goods, petroleum products and basic  utilities such as power has brought a lot of hardship on Nigerians.

The Benue tax boss further explained that the daily worsening security situation in the country has greatly affected revenue generation in the state which  has depleted revenue to the  lowest level.

She stated that though she contested  for senate in 2019  under the  platform of APC and even defeated the then incumbent senator of her zone, Senator Barnabas Gemade with over 50 thousand votes. She had to dump the party because of its unpatriotic leadership disposition.

“I was a member of the APC but I decided to defect to PDP due to the unpatriotic leadership style  of the party, which does not care about the plight of the people. I urge you to vote massively for PDP because it is the only political party that cares about the plight of the people.

Earlier, Governor Samuel Ortom stated that  Nigeria is gradually abandoning  politics of intimidation and ballot box and paper snatching.

He urged the Tarka people to come out massively and vote for PDP candidates in the forthcoming election.

“PDP is the only party that will protect you. Tarka local government shares a boundary with Guma and due to activities of herdsmen. Most of Guma people are taking refuge in Tarka, so you are aware of what I am saying. Your people have also been killed.

“We must therefore vote wisely. Vote massively for PDP because it is the only party that will protect you.” Ortom stated.

On their part, the senators representing Benue North West senatorial district  and Benue North East senatorial district, Senator Orker Kev and Senator Gabriel Suswam who applauded the decampees for taking a wise decision, said PDP remains the only political party that can salvage the hardship perpetrated on Nigerians by APC.

The governorship candidate of the PDP, Titus Uba commended Tarka people for their prayers while he was sick and urged them to vote for him in the forthcoming election for a better Benue.
