The Akwa Ibom state government has allocated houses to public servants as part of measures to address workers’ accommodation challenges.

The state government presented keys to 25 public servants for new 2-bedroom bungalows.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the latest homes are in addition to the 150 2-bedroom expandable flats the state government earlier donated to junior public servants at Grade Levels 01-08.

At a brief presentation ceremony held by the Head of Civil Service on Tuesday, the home keys were presented to the beneficiaries of the new houses on behalf of the State government.

The head of the Civil Service (HoS), Elsie Peters, who also doubles as the chairman of the National Housing Fund (NHF) in the state, commended the governor for the gesture and urged the allottees to reciprocate with support and loyalty.

Lionel Udoka, one of the beneficiaries of the houses, expressed excitement for being a partaker of one of the buildings and pledged continued dedication to deliver on duties assigned to him.

“We are very excited to receive the keys to our new houses; we thank our dear Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.d for this good gesture, and we also appreciate the Head of Civil Service, Mrs Elsie Peters, for facilitating the presentation of keys to all of us today”, Ukoka said.
