Akwa Ibom NASS Caucus Passes Vote Of Confidence In Akpabio

The Akwa Ibom National Assembly Caucus has voted to confirm Godswill Akpabio as the President of the Senate.

The group noted that since taking office as Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, Akpabio has shown strong and charismatic leadership in leading the 10th Senate.

The Caucus’ position on Akpabio was contained in a statement unanimously endorsed by its Chairman and Senator representing Akwa Ibom South, Senator Ekong Sampson, Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing Akwa Ibom North East, the House of Representatives Caucus Chairman, Hon. Unyime Idem (Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency) and Hon Ime Okon, Secretary of Caucus and member representing Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency.

Other signatories to the solidarity message included Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo (Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency), Hon. Okpolupm Etteh (Eket Federal Constituency), Hon. Mark Esset (Uyo Federal Constituency), Hon. Uduak Odudoh (Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency), Hon. Paul Ekpo (Etinan Federal Constituency), Hon. Martins Esin (Oron Federal Constituency), Hon. Patrick Umoh (Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency) and Hon. Clement Jimbo (Abak Federal Constituency).

The group noted that after careful consideration of Senator Akpabio’s performance and leadership qualities that he has exhibited in the 10th Assembly, they can only but commend the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State for his remarkable contributions to the Senate, Nigeria’s democratic processes and national development. The Caucus’ statement read:

“The Senate President’s leadership has been characterised by transparency, inclusivity and a commitment to strengthening the legislative arm of government. His handling of complex legislative matters, as well as his ability to foster unity among lawmakers, has not only advanced the interest of Akwa Ibom State but also contributed significantly to the overall progress of the nation‘.
