Every week, the Minister Counselor to the Presidency and Presidential Spokesperson provides clarifications on certain questions to explain to Central Africans the vision or policy of the Head of State, Faustin Archange Touadéra, on the development of the Central African Republic and the well-being of its population.

During the traditional weekly press conference, the Minister Delegate, Communications Advisor and Spokesperson of the Presidency of the Republic, Albert Yaloki Mokpem, personally answered questions on issues of public concern in CAR such as the Figueira spy case, detention conditions in prisons and international non-governmental organizations in the Central African Republic (CAR).

On the investigation opened by the Attorney General’s Office against Martin Joseph Figueira, he noted that there is sufficient evidence such as audio and written elements involving the payment of money and the delivery of weapons, all of which are incriminating elements.

He continued that Figueira could be brought before a judge and we have just learned that he has started a hunger strike. Some misleading statements suggest that his situation in prison is undesirable.

On Figueira’s situation and the conditions of detainees in prisons, Albert Yaloki Mokpem emphasized that people with bad intentions always use this misinformation to manipulate opinion.

“In the Central African Republic at the moment, MINUSCA is responsible for monitoring, rehabilitating and ensuring the proper functioning of pre-trial detention centers in the Central African Republic. But when we see that we start talking about human rights issues, we understand very quickly when we want to find excuses to conquer a country, these are the arguments we use”.

On the non-compliance of non-governmental organizations with international standards of law in the Central African Republic, the government spokesperson stated that in the Central African Republic there are certain non-governmental organizations that exist only in name.

“We don’t know their activities, and they present other activities to the authorities that give them approval, and this is not what happens in the country, especially in remote areas. These accusations are always made without knowing the means to obtain evidence. Today we have the means to gather evidence against these NGOs. These NGOs operating in CAR never report their activities to the responsible ministerial department. So we will have to rework things”.

The Central African Republic has recently been the victim of misinformation by some Western media outlets in favor of the enemies of peace, with the aim of discrediting the country’s authorities. This false information has been instigated by the enemies in order to push the Central African population into an uprising and plunge the country back into chaos.

It should be noted that the time is no longer ripe for manipulation, because Central Africans have understood the false games played by some international and national NGOs that still want to keep the Central African Republic in a state of poverty and underdevelopment because of their selfish interests.
