AljazirahNigeria Newspapers has announced, with deep sorrow, the passing of its devoted Managing Editor, Mr Morgan Omodu, who died on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the National Hospital, Abuja, after a prolonged illness.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, Daily Editor Mr Ibrahim Mohammed confirmed the sad development, noting that Mr Omodu’s death marked a significant loss to both the organisation and the journalism community.

During his tenure, Mr Omodu played a pivotal role in Aljazirah Nigeria’s growth and transformation. Most notably, he led the transition of the publication from a weekly to a daily newspaper on November 1, 2021—a historic milestone that elevated the brand’s national relevance and reach.
Reflecting on their professional relationship, Mohammed described the late editor as “approachable yet uncompromising when it came to professional standards.”

“Having worked closely with him for nearly four years, I witnessed his open-door leadership style and relentless pursuit of excellence. He never allowed sentiment to cloud his judgment, but he always found time to share a smile or a joke after work,” he said.

Mohammed added that the management and staff of AljazirahNigeria would deeply miss Omodu’s leadership, dedication, and warmth, which inspired both younger journalists and senior colleagues.
He also noted that details of the burial arrangements be communicated to the public in due course.
