With just about seven days to the May 29 inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, vice president-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, has assured that the incoming government will be a government for all that would strive to give all Nigerians a sense of belonging.
The incoming vice president stated this at the weekend during the 2023 presidential victory celebration dinner, book launch, and award presentation organised for Tinubu, him (Shettima) and governors-elect in Abuja by Arewa Women for Tinubu/Shettima in conjunction with “100% Focus Movement”.
The event was part of activities marking the transition programme.
Noting that the incoming Tinubu presidency will be for all, Shettima stated that he and his principal will run a government for all Nigerians.
The vice president-elect who was represented by Borno State commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Bulama, stated that now that the elections are over, the president-elect is working to ensure that he governs Nigeria in such a way that everybody, in spite of party affiliation, would be an integral part of the incoming administration.
Bulama said, “Both the president-elect and his vice are senators. One of them is a non-serving senator, while the other is an outgoing senator and both of them have executive experience in their various states. So, this is the first time we are going to have a president and a vice president who have a history of collaboration for over ten years.
“They know themselves very well and they are not strangers to each other. So I’m going to assure you that they are going to hit the ground running and this is a government for all that will carry all Nigerians along and give everybody a sense of belonging.”
Also at the event, some stakeholders called on the incoming government to give serious attention to education and infrastructural development, such as roads, railways and air transportation, saying it will move the country forward.
The minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen, who noted that Arewa women and 100% Focus Movement happen to be the first to organise a victory party for Tinubu and Shettima, said under the Tinubu administration women are leading already.
According to her, women have set the pace already by organising an elaborate victory celebration for the incoming president.
Also, the chairman of 100% Focus Movement, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed, urged the incoming administration to give priority attention to Education and infrastructure, such as roads, railways and air transportation.
In her welcome address, the national president Arewa Women for Tinubu/Shetima, Hajiya Sa’adatu Gogo Bauchi prayed God to give Tinubu and his deputy the direction to lead the country to greater heights.
