The All Progressives Congress (APC), has fixed March 28, 2026 for its National Convention.
APC announced this in a post on its X titled: “Schedule of Activities for 2025/2026 Nationwide Ward, Local Government, State and Zonal Congresses, National Convention and Related Activities.”
In the post, zonal congresses will be held on March 21, 2026 (across the six geopolitical zones) while state congresses are slated for March 7, 2026.
According to the notice, local government and ward congresses will take place on February 20 and 18, 2026 respectively while membership e-registration which started on December 1, 2025 ends January 30, 2026.
The decision comes after the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which was held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja last week.
The congresses and national convention would shape the party’s next leadership going into the 2027 election.
Recall that at the meeting, President Bola Tinubu had told the party leadership that its current control of 28 states is not a guarantee of future victories, insisting the ruling party must deliberately build political structures in states where it has no governors or risk “diminishing returns” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu said the party must be “vigilant” in states where it currently lacks power, stressing that winning governorships and sustaining electoral dominance requires proper state-level structuring, not complacency.
“What about the states where we have no governors? The party must be vigilant and ready to produce governors,” he said.
“If the structure is not right, you won’t produce one, the law of diminishing returns will follow you,” he said.
Similarly, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas rallied party leaders around the President, urging unity, coalition discipline and stronger executive-legislative alignment for the next electoral cycle.
