Farotimi is standing trial for allegedly defaming Aare Babalola in his published book titled, “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System”.

He had in the book allegedly accused Babalola of corrupting the judiciary and compromising the Supreme Court to procure a fraudulent judgement in the service of his clients.

The founder of Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) took the decision to forgive Farotimi and dropped the charges after holding a close-door meeting with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe and some top Ekiti State traditional rulers, late on Sunday evening.

The monarch, it was gathered, had during the meeting held at ABUAD, pleaded with the legal luminary on behalf Farotimi.
