The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the arrest of the chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, Muibi Alade Folawiyo.
The ICPC said he was arrested for some alleged financial crimes but was granted administrative bail while the the investigation continued.
Folawiyo was arrested for alleged gross corruption, massive stealing, diversion of public funds for personal benefits, non-adherence to due process, among other reasons.
He was arrested at the Council Secretariat on 42 Broad Street, Lagos, after failing to honour repeated ICPC invitations sent and acknowledged by him.
When LEADERSHIP contacted the ICPC spokesman, Demola Bakare, on Tuesday, he confirmed the arrest and told our correspondent that Folawiyo had been granted bail.
According to Bakate, “…Yes, he was arrested by a team from headquarters for the aforesaid reasons but was granted administrative bail. He is expected to report today (Tuesday) as the investigation continues.”
