A youth advocate in the FCT, Hon. Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, has urged politicians to stop attacks on the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and rather applaud him on developmental projects across the FCT, especially in the areas of infrastructure, security and the economy.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Yunusa popularly known as Buhun Barkonun Abuja, maintained that the distraction is too much, while lamenting the way politicians have been distracting the FCT Minister.
He said, since he was appointed FCT minister, some politicians have been sponsoring people to monitor the events of Wike in order to detect faults or mistakes so that they can make headlines out of it.
Yunusa noted that despite the fact that there have been series of distractions, Wike has not been deterred as he has been doing so much for FCT residents and the indigenous people of FCT.
Yunusa said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be impressed anyday will do a tour to assess the projects executed by Wike, especially the Apo-Karshi expressway and Gishiri township road, which he said are targeted at opening up the city and connecting rural communities to the city center.
He explained that both residents and indigenous people of FCT are very impressed with the dividends of democracy Wike is delivering on behalf of the President, adding that the Minister is a true representative of Mr President in the FCT and that there couldn’t have been a better Minister than Wike in the FCT.
He said: “We want to tell politicians who have been going around to sponsor series of criticisms to distract the Minister to allow him to serve the people. The target of the Minister of FCT is to ensure security, social amenities, roads, water, skills acquisition and youth empowerment, and therefore, we are appealing to them to allow the Minister to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people who have suffered lack government of the people for so long.
“It is a known fact that FCT has been left behind in terms of human capacity and rural community development. FCT has been left behind. But Wike has come now, and he is concentrating not just on the city but also on developing the rural communities to expand the FCT. Our people are so grateful.
“Politicians should stop distracting the Minister. This is not the time for politics. He is a Minister for both residents and indigenes. This is not time politics. When it is time for politics, we can all concentrate on politics. They should stop the cheap blackmail and image damaging of the Minister and they should allow him to work for the people of FCT. That is what is important for now.
“Anybody that has anything that they want to say concerning development or proposal or idea which will move FCT or Nigeria forward, should bring it straight to Minister Wike. He is ready to welcomed it, not unnecessary criticism or politics at this point. It is not necessary at all. We must understand the differences between time for politics and time to move forward.”
