The Alumnae Association of the 1984 Set of New Era Girls’ Secondary School (NEGSS) said it has concluded plans to commission a state-of-the-art Chemistry Laboratory as part of its 40th Graduation Anniversary celebrations.
The Governor of the 1984 Set, Olubukola Johnson Adeyemi, who disclosed this to journalists in Lagos, said the initiative aims to create a modern, effective learning environment for students, representing the alumnae’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and their legacy of contributing to the school’s development.
Adeyemi added that a Thanksgiving Ceremony would be held. The ceremony is designed to celebrate the numerous achievements of NEGSS alumni and express gratitude for four decades of shared success.
According to Adeyemi, the event will reflect on the school’s rich history and its lasting impact on its graduates and the wider community.
She said the event will occur on October 17 & 18, 2024, at the school’s auditorium in Lagos, adding that the refurbished Chemistry Laboratory has been upgraded with cutting-edge equipment and resources.
In her remark, the Chairperson of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Folashade Balogun Jose, emphasised that this historic occasion promises to be a landmark celebration of education, innovation, and community spirit.
She added that the event is expected to attract prominent figures from various sectors, including government officials, education stakeholders, and distinguished alumni.
“It will also be an incredible opportunity to give back to both the school and society, marking a milestone of gratitude, progress, and unity,” she said.
