Peace advocate and humanist, Dr Kingsley Amafibe, has unveiled a new educational scholarship project under the umbrella of Davdan Peace and Advocacy Foundation.
It is designed to strengthen the education sector in Nigeria and Africa.
The scholarship initiative will support underprivileged students, particularly those from rural and low-income communities, who face financial challenges in accessing quality education.
The project aims to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity by providing tuition, learning materials and mentorship opportunities, ensuring that no deserving child is left behind due to economic hardship.
At the launch of the foundation. Amafibe said education remains the cornerstone of national development and peacebuilding.
He said empowering young people through knowledge reduces poverty, curbs social vices, fosters innovation and builds a generation of future leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society.
Stakeholders at the event described the project as timely, given the rising number of school dropouts linked to economic hardship and inadequate support systems.
Already, 1,000 children have benefited from the scheme.
Amafibe is also the project director of Peace Ambassador Agency and the organiser of the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa’s Leadership and Business Summit.
