Pinnick was first elected into the FIFA Council in March 2021 in Rabat, Morocco, making him only the second Nigerian after Amos Adamu to occupy this office.

He secured a seat in the FIFA Council then following spate of withdrawals from the race by contestants prior to the election.

NFF has previously served on the CAF Executive Committee, which is the highest decision-making body for football in Africa.
