The leadership of the Amalgamated All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups has debunked a purported endorsement of Senator Abubakar Abdulaziz Yari for president of the 10th senate by the acting director general and others.
A statement from the support groups Signed by Hajiya Maryam Yunusa Danjaki, Deputy Director General (Stakeholders Engagement), Chief (Dr.) Ibrahim Emokpaire – Deputy Director General (South), Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Oroji Wamako- Deputy Director General (North) in Abuja yesterday said:
“It has come to our notice that the acting DG, Amalgamated APC Support Groups, Dr. Kailani Mohammed and a few others, claiming to be acting on behalf of our highly reputed organisation, the Amalgamated All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups, has endorsed an aspirant for the position of Senate President of the 10th Senate, Senator Abubakar Abdulaziz Yari, in their quest for financial gains.
“We want our great party, the APC, all the registered support groups and the general public, to note that the said endorsement of Senator Abdulaziz Yari, for Senate President by Dr. Kailani and his cohorts is against the ethics of the AASG which is to always take instruction from the party or wait for the party’s position on issues like this before taking such action, and as far as the AASG is concerned, the party has not given us any instruction to that effect.
“As support groups to the party, we cannot go ahead of the party and especially our incoming president, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to take a position on a very sensitive national issues like endorsing somebody for Senate President, who is the no.3 citizen in the political hierarchy of Nigeria.
“The management of Amalgamated APC Support Groups hereby dissociate itself completely from the so-called endorsement as it is not part of the laid down rules given to us by the party.
“We here call on all the support groups, the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NWC of our great party let by His Excellency, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the general public, to disregard the endorsement.”
