Amazon has recently introduced three personalities for Alexa+ and released it to the public this month. This is so users can customise the assistant’s manner of communication from Brief, to Chill or Sweet.
The Artificial Intelligence’s Brief attitude will be just that, brief. It will give no chitchat and no extra conversation. Chill, is just like its name, it is relaxed and appears to be motivated by caricatures of the surfer/stoner type. Meanwhile, the Sweet mode is very upbeat and ch “Alexa, how’s it going?” the Chill voice responds, “Life’s treating me well – all systems are Zen and the digital universe is spinning in harmony.”
On the other hand, the Sweet personality responds, “Absolutely fantastic! I’m radiating pure joy and ready to make your day incredibly amazing!”
Amazon has disclosed that the three personality types are based on five metrics: expressiveness, emotional openness, formality, directness and humour.
The tech giant may release additional options in the future, but for now, users can change Alexa+’s character from the Alexa app or with the spoken command, “Alexa, change your personality style.”
These methods can also be used to return to the classic Alexa voice. All three personalities are available now for all Alexa+ customers.
Alexa software was first launched in 2014 and can be used for ride booking, grocery shopping, making a reservation among others.
While Alexa+ is free with Prime membership, non-Prime members can use the technology for $19.99 per month. Both parties can sign up for Alexa+ now on Amazon.com. Amazon Prime also provides a 30-day free trial for those interested in testing the subscription before buying.
