The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has announced the appointment of its Rivers State Director, Amb. Dr. Juliet Nwokocha, as Head of Delegation to the United Nations’ Second Summit on Sustainable Development in Qatar.
In a statement signed by Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke, the International Spokesman of IAWPA, he said the prestigious appointment was a testament to Amb. Nwokocha’s tireless efforts in promoting sustainable development in Rivers State and Nigeria at large. She is by the appointment expected to lead all IAWPA Eminent Peace Ambassadors who are delegates to the Summit.
The Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled for November 4-6, 2025, in Doha, Qatar, aims to Accelerate Action on Social Development addressing gaps in social development and reaffirming commitments to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action.
The event also aims to promote sustainable development focusing on key areas such as poverty eradication, healthcare, education, and environmental protection to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Amb. Juliet Nwokocha’s Contributions
As Rivers State Director, include promoting the SDGs in a high record in the state. She has also used her position as Director of IAWPA in the state to increase membership of the association as Eminent Peace Ambassadors has significantly increased. IAWPA under her stewardship has seen the association undergoing positive transformation in the state, initiating good ideas to the association that impacted IAWPA globally.
She is also on track in making IAWPA succeed at all times.
Amb. Juliet has made significant contributions to sustainable development in the state. Her appointment as Head of Delegation underscores her commitment to promoting peace, social justice, and sustainable development.
The summit is expected to reaffirm global solidarity strengthening international cooperation to achieve the SDGs and promote social development worldwide.
The Summit will also address global challenges and discuss pressing issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and social exclusion, and develop strategies to address them.
It will also foster partnerships, encouraging collaboration among governments, international organisations, civil society, and the private sector to drive sustainable development.
