The crusade for global peace and stability pursued by the wife of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Amb. Mrs Amaba Sam-Ogbuku, received yet another boost in far away Ghana when the Ghana chapter of the International Association Of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) recognised her efforts as well as other women by conferring on her the International Women of Peace Award.

Recall that Amb. Amaba Sam-Ogbuku as well as her husband, Amb. Dr Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of NDDC, and their daughter, Miss Crystal Enato Sam-Ogbuku, are all Eminent Peace Ambassadors under the International Association Of World Peace Advocates, a global peace advocacy group with Special Consultative Status under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 2019.

Convener of the award and the Director of IAWPA in Ghana, Amb. Apostle Samuel Owuso, described Amb. Mrs Amaba Sam-Ogbuku as an epitome of peace whose activities have touched the lives of people within her immediate environment and Nigeria at large.

He said in order to encourage her to continue impacting on human lives as well as promoting peace and the ideals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she was selected as the only woman outside Ghana to be celebrated among the International Women of Peace.

The Sam-Ogbukus, whose family is heavily involved in peace efforts in Nigeria, will also be involved in yet another peace initiative when their daughter, Miss Crystal Enato Sam-Ogbuku, will be the only African Youth advocate to make a public presentation when the world observes the United Nations International Day of the Girl Child in Denmark come October 11, 2024.
