Amb Sylva Emerges Executive Secretary UN Association Of Africa

The leadership of the United Nations Association of Africa UNAA has announced the appointment of Her Excellency Amb. Alanyingi Sylva as the new Executive Secretary of the United Nations Association of Africa UNAA.

Chairman of the Board of the Association Amb. Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke who made the announcement in a press release said the appointment of Amb. Alanyingi Sylva the wife of the immediate past Minister of State for petroleum and former of Bayelsa State His Excellency Timi Sylva is based on her commitment to seeing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG which is a cardinal mission of the United Nations Association of Africa UNAA.

Amb. Nkweke said the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the UNAA has taken part in various UN sessions and has the requisite experience to reach out to various governments, corporate bodies and individuals that will help promote the quest for a peaceful African continent and the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals SDG despite the enormous challenges.

“Her Excellency Amb Alanyingi Sylva is a committed personality as far as the attainment of the SDG programmes of the United Nations is concerned. Her dedication will surely be witnessed in the way she will pilot the affairs of the UNAA bringing her extensive contacts on board. We believe in her capacity to succeed and it is our expectation that she will make the association proud.

Amb. Nkweke also said by her appointment, she is expected to play greater roles in bringing issues that concern the African continent to the attention of the United Nations. She is also expected to attend any of the upcoming United Nations events before the end of the year.

She has since accepted the appointment and the event for her official installation has been fixed for Monday 7th October 2024 at the Rotunda hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Nigeria.

The event will also witness the celebration of the 64th year anniversary since Nigeria joined the United Nations. Dignitaries from various endeavours of life are expected to grace the event.

The United Nations Association of Africa UNAA which is registered in the United States of America is a movement of Africans who believe that our interests and values can best be advanced by identifying and standing with the United Nations. Other similar bodies that exist globally include the United Nations Association of America, United Nations Association of Canada as well as the United Nations Association of United Kingdom.
