Ameera Abraham is a leading figure in Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry. Young but big in the heart, Ameera has transformed a simple passion for beauty into a thriving enterprise.

Through this, she has inspired thousands of young women to pursue entrepreneurship, which they hitherto ignored or held with disdain.

Born into a family that valued education and excellence, Ameera displayed an early interest in beauty and personal care.

Despite her passion for the beauty industry, she still pursued an academic path that differed from her eventual career. Ameera attended the prestigious Royal Holloway, University of London, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and International Relations.

While still studying in the United Kingdom, she developed a deeper appreciation for the beauty and wellness industry and pursued a professional training in beauty therapy.

She earned a certification as a beauty therapist and medical aesthetician and also obtained a CIBTAC Diploma in Spa Management. These equipped her with the technical and managerial skills required in the industry.

At the age of 22, Ameera returned to Nigeria and identified a gap in Abuja’s beauty market: there was no dedicated luxury nail spa. Rather than view this as a limitation, she seized the opportunity and founded The Nail Bar in March 2011. What started as a modest venture grew into one of Nigeria’s foremost luxury nail spas and wellness centres.

Building the business was not without challenges as she faced infrastructure constraints such as inconsistent electricity and water supply. The emerging entrepreneur also contended with scepticism because of  her young age.

But through resilience, innovation and continuous learning, Ameera expanded The Nail Bar into a brand in the Nigerian beauty industry.

She proceeded to launch Amali Cosmetics, a clean beauty and nail-care brand now known for its non-toxic formulations.

She also authored The Full Set, a book in which she shares insights on entrepreneurship, motherhood and the realities of building a beauty business in Nigeria.

Beyond business, Ameera has distinguished herself as a mentor and advocate for women and children. Through workshops, masterclasses and digital training programmes, she has empowered numerous aspiring beauty entrepreneurs. She strongly advocates financial literacy and economic independence for women as key drivers of gender equality.

Ameera has equally contributed to industry development, serving as Executive Chair and Director of Communications of the Spa and Wellness Association of Africa and as a member of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria’s beauty and wellness technical committee.

In recent years, she established the MAMWT Legacy Initiative, a foundation focused on community development, economic empowerment, and humanitarian support. Her work has earned her recognition as a leading voice in Nigeria’s beauty and wellness sector and a role model for young female entrepreneurs.
