Palestinian militant group Hamas has accepted a ceasefire deal for Gaza brokered by Qatari and Egyptian mediators following threat of the invasion of Rafah by Israeli forces.

There are, however, no specific terms of what the group agreed to and it is not clear yet whether Israel will accept the deal.

Israel has ordered about 100,000 Palestinians to leave eastern Rafah ahead of a “limited” military operation.

The Israeli military said it is not a wide-scale evacuation and evacuees will be directed to tent cities in Khan Younis and al-Mawasi

Earlier, United State (US) President Joe Biden “reiterated his clear position on Rafah” in a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House said.

Israel said the assault on Rafah is necessary to defeat Hamas which has made the city the refuge of its fleeing militants
