Amotekun Arrests Killer Of Ondo APC Chairman, Parades 31 Other Criminals

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, said it has arrested one of the killers of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of the state, Hon. Nelson Adepoyigi.

Recall that Adepoyigi was kidnapped by some armed men at his residence along Ifon-Owo road, in Ifon, the headquarters of the local government. His abductors later killed him after collecting ransom from his family.

On Monday, the Corps Commandant, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, parading the suspect and 31 other suspected criminals at the Corps’ headquarters in Akure, the state capital, said the prime suspect had confessed to the crime.

According to Adeleye, “The prime suspects of the killing of a ward chairman in Ose had been arrested; he had confessed.”

Adeleye disclosed that the suspect had taken the operatives of the corps back into the forest, where his men retrieved some of the items they had taken from the family of the victim.

The Amotekun boss further hinted that the suspect led them to the bush where the remains of the deceased were recovered and handed over to his family for burial.

On other suspects, Adeleye said, “We have a 35-year-old Ali, a 30-year-old Habeeb, a 45-year-old Bobade, a 25-year-old Shedrak, a 25-year-old Adamu, a 20-year-old Adelewa, a 40-year-old Suleiman, a 20-year-old Mohamed, an 18-year-old Suleiman Isiaka and an 18-year-old Husseini, all being investigated as suspected kidnappers.”

According to him, the suspected Kidnappers were arrested in Ute-Owo Forest, Jugbere Forest, and Ipele in the Owo local government area of the state. Adeleye further hinted that ‘We are parading 32 suspects.

These 32 suspects were arrested across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State for infringement of the existing laws.

“I also want to place on record that the task force put in place to bring sanity to the restive Aladada axis, in Akure North, is still in force, the Amotekun Rangers are domiciled with officers and men from all security agencies in and out of Aladada.’’

“So, as we talk, in the last 14 days, there has been no bad incident of attack on farmers and residents of Ago-Oyinbo, Ago-dada and the Environ power line where we usually have attacks.’’
