Veteran Nollywood stars Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo have been honoured with the Industry Merit Award at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The awards recognise their decades-long contributions to the Nigerian film industry and their impact as two of Nollywood’s most respected screen icons.

Sobowale has remained a fan favourite for her commanding screen presence in several blockbuster productions, while Kanayo is widely celebrated for his enduring influence and versatility in Nollywood. Kanayo also used the moment to speak out against xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Their recognition was among the standout moments of this year’s AMVCA ceremony, as colleagues and fans applauded their lasting legacies in African cinema.
