A former minister of state for science and technology, Chief Henry Ikoh, has stated that Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State can coordinate and ensure the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, wins the Anambra Governorship election this November with the cooperation of the party Stakeholders in Anambra State, South East and the APC national headquarters.
In a statement issued to journalists in Abuja, he responded to the flag presentation to the Anambra APC candidate, Nichols Ukachukwu, and Senator Uche Ekwunife as his deputy at the Villa.
The former minister congratulated the Anambra APC flag bearer, whom he noted as a consistent player in the politics of Anambra State. Ikoh commended his resilience and assured him that victory is sure with the present interwoven political indices in Anambra.
Ikoh reiterated that APC has participated in the Anambra Governorship elections since 2017 and 2021 with minimal success, but that the scenario will be different this time around, on 8 November 2025, with President Tinubu offering the olive branch to the people of Anambra State.
The former minister indicated that it is time for the people of Anambra State to reciprocate President Tinubu’s gesture and the benefits they have received from the party by embracing the APC and voting for its candidate, Nichols Ukachukwu, in the 8th November gubernatorial election.
Ikoh cited the appointment of an APGA stakeholder, Hon. Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, as the minister of state for foreign affairs and of Hon. Mark Okoye as the managing director of the South East Department Commission, as some of the reasons for the Anambra voters to support APC and President Bola Tinubu.
Ikoh, while expressing confidence in Governor Hope Uzodinma, said that the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum has demonstrated an uncommon passion for the APC in the region, making him well suited to lead the APC onslaught in the region, including the incoming governorship election in Anambra State and the 2027 general election, for the brighter political future of Ndi Igbo in Nigeria.
“I have looked across the South Eastern part of the country to search for the most passionate and committed leader in the region and I have come to the conclusion that Uzodinma stands tall to lead the APC onslaught particularly in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election all leaders and sons should rally him to deliver APC in the South East, ” Ikoh stated.
According to the former minister, the election is a pointer to what to expect in the future, though with traditional challenges. He said the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Uzodinma, remains one of the very few party leaders who can commit his resources and energy to delivering APC in the coming election, as he has already set out to accomplish.
“Apart from the uncommon passion that he has continued to display within the party, another thing that sets Governor Uzodinma apart is that he is a goal getter who would achieve whatever mission he is assigned.
“He has proven these virtues in the discharge of various responsibilities assigned to him by President Bola Tinubu and the APC national headquarters credibly.
“Governor Uzodinma has also brought these uncommon goal-getting attributes to bear in the way and manner that he has administered Imo State, a virtue that I want the APC family to tap into to win the Anambra State governorship election,” Ikoh stated.
He described the courageous choice of Chief Nicholas Ikechukwu, who has repeatedly contested elections in Anambra State for House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship. Ikoh insisted that with the cooperation of Anambra electorates and APC Stakeholders with His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, victory for APC is guaranteed in the 8th November 2025 gubernatorial election.
He appealed to all the contestants who participated in the party’s primary to close ranks in the overall interest of Mr. President and the party and support the APC candidate.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended the Anambra flag bearer, whom he handed over the party’s flag at the villa last week, and advised him to extend a friendly handshake to all aspirants.
