Anambra 2025: Soludo’s Challengers Should Channel Campaign Funds Into Security – Activist

Ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, a human rights activist and convener/coordinator, Recover Nigeria, Comrade Osita Obi, has urged all aspirants jostling to stop the re-election of the incumbent governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, to drop such ambition.

Comrade Obi advised the governorship aspirants to channel the funds they have earmarked for campaigns to dislodge Soludo from serving out his statutory second term in office to support the security initiative the governor launched a few days ago.

The Awka-based activist argued that though Soludo’s record in the area of security had been poor, he, however, insisted that the administration had done so well in infrastructural provision and as such should be given a chance to complete his constitutional two tenures.

Obi spoke to newsmen in Awka yesterday to update members of the public concerning the two-week ultimatum he earlier gave the fiery Catholic priest, spiritual director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Idemili-South local government area of the state, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as “Ebube Muonso” to apologise to Soludo for calling him names over the wave of insecurity in the state.

Ebube Muonso, in his lamentation of the wave of insecurity in the state during his New Year message at his adoration centre, described Soludo as a “reprobate,” someone who is happy that others are being killed and wicked, and consequently asked him to vacate office as governor so that another person could mount the saddle.

But the activist defended Soludo and accused the Catholic priest of not employing”decency” in the manner he addressed the governor.

He warned him to offer a public apology to the governor; otherwise, he would organise a protest to compel him to do so.

The activist, however, told newsmen at the expiration of his two-week ultimatum yesterday that he believed that Ebube Muonso would still apologise to Soludo.

“I still believe that if Ebube Muonso is being directed by the Holy Spirit he will one day tender apology to Soludo because a spiritual person is a humble person “.

On the wave of insecurity ravaging the state, the activist particularly blamed the state police command over the situation.

“Modern security is technology and intelligence-driven, and, not mounting check-points on the roads which is what the police are doing in Anambra State”, he advised.

However, he commended the state governor for launching the state security initiative code-named “Udo Ga Achi” and “Agunechemba ” and urged the governor to monitor the group’s operation to ensure that it does not abuse its powers.

“I’m not saying that Soludo is holistically right.

“He has done so well in the area of infrastructure -on roads and so many other areas, but not in the area of security”, he stated.

He stated that Soludo was forced to launch the war against insecurity because of the pressure from the people of the state, adding that he would do more if he were re-elected.
