Anambra Guber: 1,630 Delegates Set To Elect APC Candidate

Contrary to reports in some section of the media, about 1,630 delegates are set to elect the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing primary election in Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday.

Already, most of the said delegates have been accredited, waiting for voting at press time.

Seven aspirants had earlier bought nomination forms to contest the ticket, only four aspirants were left in the race as at 7pm Saturday evening.

The remaining aspirants are: Hon. Nicolas Ukachukwu, Chief Valentine Ozigbo, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo and Mr. Edozie Madu.

Those who have pulled out from the race based on their official statements included: Hon. Chukwuma Umoeji, Sir Paul Chukwuma and Prof. Obiora Okwonko.

Earlier in the day, the chairman of the Anambra State Governorship Primary Election Committee and governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, had series of meetings with various sub-committees in order to ensure an hitch-free process.

A visit to the venue of the primary election at Dr. Dora Akunyili Centre on Saturday evening showed a peaceful environment as delegates were seen walking into the venue orderly while security agents were fully positioned in strategic places.
