In his acceptance speech, Ukachukwu thanked President Bola Tinubu, Governor Otu-led APC national committee, delegates and entire party members in the state for ensuring that the election was conducted free and fair, especially for the confidence reposed in him to fly the party’s governorship flag.

He assured that his candidacy will win the governorship election for the APC even as he issued a Red Card to the incumbent governor of the State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who is also the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) candidate in the governorship poll.

Earlier before the conduct of the primary, three other aspirants who filed out for the APC ticket including a former national auditor of the party, Sir Paul Chukwuma, former member of the House of Representatives, Jon Chuma Umeoji and chairman/ chief executive officer of the Nigeria United Airlines, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, had withdrawn from the contest, alleging irregularities.
