An Onitsha Main Market trader, Mr. Chigozie Omile, has been arrested by the operatives of the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly re-sharing a WhatsApp post bordering on allegation of infidelity against the wife of the state governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo.

LEADERSHIP learnt that Omile was picked up on Tuesday night from his shop in Onitsha Main Market by the police team and brought to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) where he was being detained as at the time of filing this report on Wednesday.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached for his reaction concerning the arrest as he was said to be in a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.

However, a top personnel in the State Police Command confirmed that there was a suspect who was being detained at the command in connection with the alleged re-forwarded WhatsApp post bordering on infidelity allegation against the state governor’s wife.

He, however, said: “The parties – both the person who brought the petition and the accused person – have not been interrogated.

“We are going to investigate the matter. And we are going to make sure that justice was done,” the top police source said.
