Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, the Rt. Rev Geoffrey Ibeabuchi has warned against subverting the collective wish of the electorates in 2023 through vote buying, rigging, political thuggery, intimidation, and bloodshed.
Ibeabuchi stated this in his presidential address during the 13th Diocesan Men’s Fellowship of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He expressed worry that activities of kidnappers, armed robbers, terrorists, ethnic agitators, religious fanatics, and bandits have continued to create havoc in the social and economic development of the country.
He also noted with dismay the high rate of use of hard drug in the country especially among the youths, saying if urgent actions were not taken to curb the menace, the youths may be lost to drug virus.
The bishop called for introduction of what he described as a total civilian constitution that would accommodate the diversities of the country to ensure peace, harmony, equity, unity, and development.
