Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s economic proposals. He said they would reposition Nigeria for greatnessin the current year.

Ndukuba,  in his New Year message yesterday at the Cathedral Church of Advent in Abuja, said Nigeria is entering a crucial year that demands divine wisdom and strategic actions.

He urged Nigerians to trust in God’s plan and acknowledged the challenges ahead.

“2026 will be a year that requires divine wisdom. Not just any how, action. Because this year is a year that will be controlled by strategies.

“Internationally, nationally, in the church, in the family, everywhere. And therefore, the word of the Lord to us in this year is, it shall be for us the year of the counsel of the Almighty God,” he said.

He warned that earthly and evil counsels would not prevail, stating, “The counsel of men will not prevail. The counsel of the enemy will not prevail. The plans and strategies of the wicked shall fail.”

The Primate said 2026 will mark the unfolding of God’s eternal plan for Nigeria and its people, urging all to align with this divine purpose.

“This year, God will unfold his eternal plan and purpose for our nation Nigeria, for our families, and for us as individuals. And therefore, the best that we can do is to key in into God’s eternal plan, which he made and which he spoke of right from our very, very, very beginning. Even before the fall of man,” he said.

Ndukuba, while making reference to the Bible, quotes Genesis 1:26-28 to underscore mankind’s God-given dominion and blessing, “Let us make man in our own image and in our likeness. And he made them male and female. And he blessed them and said to them, be blessed, have dominion over all creations.

“So this year, we are stepping into the year of divine counsel, by which God will bring back to us whatever the enemy has sought to steal and take away or destroy.

“God is going to relocate us, reposition us, and establish us individually, collectively, and as families. And my prayer is that as we seek the wisdom of God and the guidance of the Lord, the Lord will guide us by his word and his Holy Spirit, and he will cause us to exercise dominion.

“He will cause us to exercise his authority. He will help us to be a blessing, not only in our environment, but everything we lay our hands to do shall be blessed. Your business will not dry or die.”

While highlighting the importance of the current government’s economic agenda, Ndukuba expressed optimism for tangible progress this year.

“The plans that had started working for some years now, under the present administration of President Tinubu, I will call it the economics, his economic plans and proposals will kick in in full measure this year.

“And we are trusting God that Nigeria will rise again. The people of God will see the brightness of the Lord and shall be blessed.

“Nigeria, God loves us and he will care for us, he will take care of us in this year. And I want to tell us, this year has its highs and lows. It will come with its challenges, but God will carry us through. But one thing, the counsel of the wicked shall not prevail. God bless Nigeria,” he said.
