the FCT.

Ango added that he would work to support the agenda of the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike to create a modern and truly 21st-century capital city that provides infrastructure, social services and a secure citizen-friendly environment comparable to any developed nation in the world.

According to him, the minister has already shown that he is committed to doing so, as can be attested to, with all the infrastructural development ongoing and completed in the last one year in Abuja.

The acting executive chairman noted that FCT-IRS is the territory’s major revenue source, adding that FCT could fund its major projects from the revenue collected by the Service with minimal dependence on federal allocation.

Ango stated that there would be no room for laxity, incompetence or other negative tendencies that would not align with the vision and goals of President Tinubu and the minister of FCT.

He described the immediate past acting chairman as a friend, brother and colleague over the years.

“We will work together to make the transition seamless, with minimal disruption to our day-to-day operations. For all the staff, we will embark on a new journey from today and I need the cooperation of everyone in the Service. I thank you all for warmly receiving me and I look forward to working with all of you starting from now,” he stated.

Earlier in his remarks, the outgoing acting executive chairman, Mr Haruna Abdullahi who said it has been a pleasure serving as the acting executive chairman of FCT-IRS, reflected on his time in the role and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead and contribute to the service’s success.

He said the service was excited to welcome a new administration filled with new, bustling ideas and strategies that would further improve revenue generation. He assured the new acting chairman of his continued support and added that the service would ensure a seamless handover process.

He described Ango as a friend of the service since its inception, and that having him head the service was a great honour for the agency as he would bring his wealth of experience and deep expertise in the field of taxation to bear, which would benefit the service greatly.
