Angry youths suspected to be relatives of the soldiers killed in Okuama-Ewu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, on March 15, 2024, have attacked the Benin City residence of the family of Oronsaye Osaretin Nelson, killing his aged mother, Mrs Victoria Oronsaye.

Recall that 17 soldiers were brutally killed while they were on a peace mission to Okuama-Ewu Community, a sad development which elicited negative reactions to the extent that President Bola Tinubu ordered a full-scale investigation to unravel the mysteries leading to the gruesome murder of the patriotic military officers and to also ensure those behind the dastardly minded action were brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Oronsaye Osaretin Nelson was suspected to have been involved by proxy in the killing of the military officers because of his roles played in shielding one Jude Okoro, who was directly involved in the killing in his house. Though the said Jude Okoro and some of his relatives, including his mother, were said to have been killed thereafter.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the investigations carried out by the committee comprising of the military and other security agents as well as the representatives of the Delta State government, implicated Nelson in the killing of the soldiers and in exercise of their revenge, the relatives of the servicemen, decided to attack those who were fingered to have been involved including Oronsaye Osaretin Nelson, whom they have launched continued search for.

The attackers unfortunately ran into Nelson’s aged mother and callously beat her to death and threatened to also kill her fugitive son, Nelson, saying the killing of their deceased soldier-brothers had brought pains and anguish to them.
